is one of fictional species of Pokémon in the Pokémon franchise. It is a basic flying- and poison-type Pokémon. Zubat is Pokémon The name "Zubat" probably derived from the Japanese word "zubatto," which is a sound effect of something being hit on target. This was also the same exact basis for the name of the Japanese Henshin Hero, Kaiketsu Zubat. However, it is also derived from 'bat', as that is exactly what the Pokémon Zubat is.
Biology It resembles a small blue and purple bat, with no eyes and two probe-like appendages for legs. Owing to its name and appearance, it acts much like a bat. It lives in caves and other dark places, and navigates using ultrasonic waves. It appears that Zubat is weakened by sunlight, so it hides in caves or other dark places. At night, it will come out and hunt for fruit or Venomoth, or it sucks blood. In the Pokémon video games Zubat is one of the most common Pokémon in the entire game series. It appears in almost every single cave in every game except for Colosseum, in which there are no wild Pokémon. It even appears at night on certain routes in Pokémon Gold, Pokémon Silver, and Pokémon Crystal. It can also be caught at the Cave Poké Spot in XD. Its abundance can be annoying because it is quite fast, and in later areas, it may know Confuse Ray and even Mean Look (despite not having any eyes, being one of the only Pokémon to exhibit this trait). Zubat are also found in the Nintendo 64 game Pokémon Snap in the Tunnel and Cave Courses. Their erratic flying patterns make getting a clear, centered close-up photograph a bit of a challenge. Recently, a video has shown that a Zubat is a Pokémon used by Team Galaxy. This would probably mean that Zubat, Golbat, and Crobat are obtainable in Pokémon Diamond and/or Pokémon Pearl. Anime appearances In an early episode of the Pokémon anime, Brock catches one of a flock of Zubat swarming out of a cave. Brock usually uses it for reconnaissance, much like Ash's Pidgeotto. It has evolved to Golbat and then into Crobat. Crobat was given to Forest, with Onix and Geodude by Brock, becoming a Gym Leader. In the pokemon trading card game Zubat has had many card apperences. | ||||||||
