    X-ray Tomography is a branch of X-ray microscopy. A series of projection images are used to calculate a three dimensional reconstruction of an object. The technique has found many applications in materials science and later in biology and biomedicical research. In terms of the latter, the National Center for X-ray Tomography (NCXT) is one of the principle developers of this technology, in particular for imaging whole, hydrated cells.
