West University Elementary School is a primary school located in West University Place, Texas, United States. West University Elementary School, which serves grades kindergarten through 5, is a part of the Houston Independent School District. The school has Houston ISD's Math and Science magnet program. The school has a "Houston" postal address, but is located in the city of West University Place. West University ES serves the city of West University Place and the portion of the city of Southside Place north of Bellaire Boulevard. West University Elementary also serves parts of Houston (including the neighborhood of Sunset Terrace and a portion of Upper Kirby) that are inside the 610 Loop which are south of Westpark, east of Community, west of Kirby, and directly north of West University Place. Areas north of Westpark, south of U.S. Route 59, west of Kirby, and east of Edloe are also served by West University Elementary School.
History West University Elementary School opened sometime around 1928; originally Pershing Middle School was connected to WUES; Pershing later obtained its own campus in Houston *. Construction on West University Elementary's addition began in Winter 2005. The lead architect is Pearson English Architectural Design, Incorporated, with Heery International, Incorporated as the main architect. The original budget was $9,600,000 United States dollars. Construction is expected to end in Winter 2006 *. Feeder patterns Students zoned to the school are zoned to Pershing Middle School (in Houston) with Pin Oak Middle School (in the city of Bellaire) as a transfer option.
