Vila Real de Santo António (pron. , quickly pronounced as 'vilɐ ʁi'aɫ dɨ sɐ̃tɐ̃'tɔnju}}) is a town in Algarve, Portugal. Before the days of the euro many shops here accepted pesetas because of many Spanish visitors. The town is located next to the Guadiana river and before the building of the Guadiana International Bridge used to be the easiest way to access Portugal from Andalusia (by car via ferry). Its trade has steadily diminished since then.
