Victory Brewing Company is a brewery located in Downingtown, PA. Founded in 1996, Victory has grown quickly, with its annual production growing from 1,500 annual barrels to nearly 15,000 in four year's time. During that time, Victory has become one of the most highly regarded of East Coast breweries. Victory also has a restaurant and brewpub on site.
HopDevil Ale In areas with a lot of wheat and hop stalks, sometimes you may run across what has been called a "Hop Devil". No one knows exactly where they come from, but in times of drought or blight, the withered stalks sometimes gain a life of their own and start walking around. Dull-witted and mischievous, these little bundles of joy are known to destroy entire fields and drive livestock away for miles. The only way to put an end to the trouble of a hop devil is to destroy the tainted stalk body. Without a form to animate, the evil force inside it will blow away on the wind." Famous in Belgium, outside the town of Ghent is the "Hop Devil" pub. It is prounounced the Hop "Duvel" there. Now in NYC is the "Hop Devil Grill and Belgian Room" which has a tremendous selection of rare hard to find Belgian beers too. They also serve the famous Moules and Frites or Mussels steamed in beer served with french fries and mayo. A traditional Belgian dish to consume with beer. Finally, a brewing company known as Victory has been brewing a beer for some time known asHopDevil Ale (also known as Victory HopDevil India Pale Ale), is an India Pale Ale style of beer. HopDevil is Victory's flagship beer characterized by a strong bitter hoppy taste with spicy undertones. It has a high level of alcohol (6.7% by volume) even among IPAs which are known for their high alcohol content. It should be noted that this recipe for beer is not Belgian at all but a bitter English style of Ale. Availability HopDevil is available all year in bottles and on tap at Victory Brewery. Victory also serves a cask-conditioned beer version on tap that has a smoother taste with less carbonation and a higher alcohol content.
