    History

In Star Fox Venom itself is divided into orbit and surface stages, during which the player either battles a shapeshifting machine called Phantron in two forms, a massive machine called Metal Smasher and a ground vehicle called Galactic Rider, or a gigantic battleship that splits into three called Great Commander in three forms, depending on the difficulty level.

In Star Fox 64, which restarts the Star Fox storyline, General Pepper sends Andross into exile on the inhospitable surface of Venom, where he then amasses a large army, launching an attack on the Lylat System. In this game, there are two possible routes of attack against Venom, through the corridor at Area 6 and by destroying the space station Bolse; the player must clear one or the other in order to reach the planet and confront Andross.

If Star Fox reaches Venom from Bolse, they must fight through Venom's obstacle-ridden surface, which has multiple branches, and a golem boss named Golemech before entering a straight tunnel to fight an Andross robot. If Star Fox comes to Venom from Area 6, they enter a final confrontation against Star Wolf's new Wolfen II ships, and, afterward, Fox immediately enters a complex tunnel system to encounter and battle against the real Andross. In addition to this being the "proper" ending, it is also much easier to obtain a medal on this version of Venom.

According to the official Star Fox 64 player's guide, "Venom is a harsh frontier world on the periphery of the Lylat system. The atmosphere is almost unbreathable, and the rocky surface is broken by rough cliffs and chasms. Because of its distance from Corneria, it has never been fully explored." General Pepper's briefing in the guide expands on this last statement: "We have very little information about the mysterious planet of Venom. Andross has undoubtedly built a base of maze-like tunnels going deep into the planet. Because his base is hewn from solid rock, there is no way for us to learn anything about it from orbit."

In the player's guide, ROB 64's Lylat Datalink for Venom expands on the history of Venom and Golemech: "It is not known whether Golemech is something Andross created or something he discovered in the ancient ruins that dot the surface of Venom. Few archaeological surveys were sent to Venom before Andross took it over as his base, but Corneria University scientists believe that the legendary Lost Tribe of Cornerus did, indeed, inhabit Venom in the distant past. They also think it possible that Golemech is a remnant of the Lost Tribe's technology. Ancient texts state that the tribe eventually struck out into space to find a new home, but what become of them, no one knows."

The Plantary Data section of the SF64 guide states that Venom is the largest planet in the Lylat System, and has no surface water (though it has acidic water in Star Fox Command). The adjective that denotes something as being native to the planet Venom is officially "Venomian." This is supported by the check signed by General Pepper at the end of Star Fox 64, on which Star Fox is paid money per "Venomian units destroyed."

Venom also appears as a stage in the Nintendo GameCube game Super Smash Bros. Melee.

In the cancelled Star Fox 2 Venom appears as a standard "Enemy Base" Level, however, it has the appearance of a lush, green forest.

In the Star Fox Command, a race known as the anglars are found to have survived in the acidic oceans of Venom, who invade the Lylat system.

In many of the multiple endings of Star Fox Command, Venom is transformed into a lush paradise, due to a device which Andross had created and hidden on Titania.

    Venomian Army
The Venomian Army refers to the force that Andross commands against the forces of Corneria and the Lylat System.

In Star Fox 64, Andross's army was largely composed of apes and lizards.

The army, at least, the remnants of the former Venomian Army, was not featured in Star Fox Adventures. Although the SharpClaw Army did supposedly receive foreign military aid from them in spaceships, fighter crafts and equipment.

In Star Fox: Assault, even after the defeat of Andross, the Venomian Army still had the numbers to be considered a significant threat and were recruited under the command of Andross' nephew, Andrew Oikonny, as the Oikonny Rebels. Unfortunately, the Oikonny Rebels lost their leader at the battle over Fortuna and had to take a back seat to the new menance of the Star Fox universe, The Aparoid Swarm. In the aftermath of the War against the Aparoids, the Fortuna Status Report details that the Oikonny Rebels were completely wiped out along with the Invading Aparoid Forces. Oikonny, however, managed to survive, which is later revealed in Star Fox: Command.

    Defenses
In the original Star Fox, the Venomian Army has at its disposal a large space fleet which blocks the route to Venom. In Star Fox 64 the fleet seems to have increased in size as both Sector Y and Venom itself are defended by massive armadas.
