Vasudeva in Hinduism was the son of Śũrasena, of the Yadava dynasty. His sister Kunti was married to Pandu. He married Devaki, the sister of Kamsa, and he was the father of Krishna and his sister Subhadra by her. He also took a second wife, Rohini, who bore his eldest son, Balarama. According to some accounts he also had several other children by other wives. The name Vāsudeva, to be interpreted as 'descendant of Vasudeva', is another name for Krishna.
