    Vashon Island High School is a public high school located on Vashon Island, Washington. Vashon Island High School is the only high school to serve the island although there are private schools that run from preschool through 8th grade. VHS runs 9th through 12th grade. Currently VHS has an enrollment of 518 students and 44 faculty and staff. The school's athletic nickname is the Pirates.
    The Principal of VHS is Susan Hanson and the assistant principal is Jim Ohlsen.

    One of the most notable teachers at VHS was Mr. Jason Tanguay (Everestnews) who climbed Mt. Everest in 2004 and climbed Mt. Vinson on Antarctica in 2005. Mr. Tanguay completed his 100th ascent of Mt. Rainier this summer 2006, after retiring as a teacher to pursue other job opporitunities.
