    A variator is a device that can change its parameters, or can change parameters of other devices.Often a variator is a mechanical power transmission device that can change its gear ratio continuously (rather than in steps).

    Alfa Romeo Variator


    Variator is the name for the Alfa Romeo variable valve timing device. It is used on the inlet camshaft or the TwinSpark generation engines. It works using oil pressure from the engine, which is controlled by the variator solenoid. When engine revs are above 3k revs the solenoid energizes, causing oil pressure to be directed through the inlet camshaft into the variator.
