Under Suspicion is an American film released in 2000 and directed by Stephen Hopkins. The movie stars Gene Hackman and Morgan Freeman in the lead roles.

Tagline: Everyone has secrets. Some of them are crimes.

The film is based on the 1981 French film Garde à vue and the 1970s British novel Brainwash, written by John Wainwright.

The film's plot centers on the rape and murder of two girls in San Juan. Captain Benezet (played by Morgan Freeman) questions an upstanding lawyer (played by Gene Hackman) about the crime, turning a 10-minute interview into a grueling interrogation.

Much of the film's score was composed and performed by the electronica musician BT.

It was nominated by the Mystery Writers of America for the 2001 Edgar Award for best motion picture.
