Tauro FC is a professional soccer club located in Panama City, Panama that plays in ANAPROF, the top Panamanian soccer league. Tauro FC have won 7 ANAPROF Championships since 1989, the highest total of any team. The club has also finished second 5 times, tied for the most by any team. In the most recent Apertura 2006, the team finished the regular season at the top of the table, but lost to San Francisco F.C. by a 2-1 aggregate score after a two-leg series. The team plays its games at La Pedregaleña in Panama City. The team's colors are black and white. Tauro FC and Plaza Amador have been continuous rivals since ANAPROF started in 1988. They're both from Panama City itself, but do not play in the same stadium. The rivalry is referred to as "El Clásico" in Panama.
Early History The team was founded thanks to the efforts of Italian industrialist, Giancarlo Gronchi. Prior to the creation of ANAPROF in 1988, Tauro FC participated in the ADECOPA in the Liga Distritorial de Chepo (Chepo District League). This was the league for teams in the eastern portion of the Panamanaian Province. The team helped found ANAPROF in 1988.
