A Startpage is a page that automatically opens when an Internet user starts a browser. The Startpage is preconfigured to load automatically in the software, it can be changed and set to a different page by the user. The most popular startpages are the large international portals like Google.com, Yahoo.com, MSN.com or Wikipedia.org. The Startpage can also be a personal homepage, a link-list or a blog that the user starts her Internet session on. A browser Startpage can also be called a Homepage, the terms are used interchangeably. Since the term Home page has been known to be a users personal page the term Startpage might be a better term for the page the browser brings up when it starts. Browsers Internet Explorer and Firefox in their latest versions have named their start-page "Home page" and it is symbolized by a small house (home) icon.
