A session is a gathering for a specific time period, usually recurring, but not necessarily regularly. A court or other assembly is said to be in session when it convenes.
Session can also have any of the following specific meanings:
Session (CD), on CDs consist of lead-in, table of contents, and lead-out
Session — a collection of process groups in a Unix-like operating system
jam session, musical act where musicians gather and play
the elected governing body of a congregation within a Presbyterian church (in Scotland, a "Kirk session")
