He then went to Vermont Law School, where he earned the J.D. degree cum laude in 1987. Specializing in direct mail and message development, Ron Gunzburger worked as a professional campaign consultant for 20 years in over 125 campaigns ranging from municipal races through Congressional campaigns. His innovative and often humorous campaign ads have been featured on NBC's Today Show, CNN's Headline News and in numerous print articles. Selected by the US Secretary of Defense, Gunzburger spent nine days participating in DOD's prestigious JCOC program in 2001. Most recently, Gunzburger volunteered in January 2004 as a Howard Dean campaign GOTV ward captain in Concord, New Hampshire during the primary campaign. He remains active in numerous civic and progressive organizations. A trial attorney since 1988, Gunzburger has previously served as an Assistant Public Defender, an Assistant Attorney General of Florida (RICO Unit, Economic Crimes Division), and as a litigation partner in a large national law firm. Gunzburger was a candidate for Broward County Judge in 1994, losing in the run-off (45% - 149,000 votes). He was again a candidate in 2002, challenging an incumbent Circuit Court Judge in the 17th Judicial Circuit (Broward County) of Florida – in a county where no incumbent circuit judge had lost a race for re-election in over 60 years – but missed qualifying for the run-off by a 2% margin. He is currently General Counsel and Director of Administration for Broward County Property Appraiser Lori Parrish. The South Florida Business Journal honored Gunzburger and 39 others in 1998 with its prestigious "40 Under 40 Award" for achieving career excellence before age 40.
Politics1.com Moving into the realm of new media, he created and launched the Politics1 web site in late 1997. While the site initially published a political newsletter (The Politics1 Report), Gunzburger converted the weekly newsletter into an online blog in late 2001. On May 6, 2006, Gunzburger announced that he intends to run for a Broward County, Florida judge, and turn the day to day operations of his website to his partner, Dana F. Buker *. A few days later, he announced that he decided against running for judge, even though it was likely that he would run unopposed, because of his passion for politics *. He has therefore resumed running his website. Family Ron Gunzburger is the son of Sue Gunzburger, who earned national attention for her prominent role in the 2000 Presidential recount as the Broward County Commission Chair who served on the Broward County Election Canvassing Board. Ron got his first political experience working on his mother's winning campaign for Hollywood, Florida, City Commissioner in 1982. In June 2006, Gunzburger went to Toronto to marry his partner of 19 years, Dana Buker *. | ||||||||
