Rogue Ales is an American brewery founded in 1988 in Newport, Oregon; it was originally located in Ashland. Rogue is known for producing a wide variety of traditional and experimental ales, including collaborations with Chef Morimoto of Iron Chef fame.

The company has a wide range of beers and continues to produce new beers regularly. A key similarity to most of Rogue's beers is the rogue who appears on the front of the bottle, usually in attire that is complementary to the name or the style of the beer.

    Dead Guy Ale
Dead Guy Ale is, according to its bottle labeling, "gratefully dedicated to the Rogue in each of us." This allusion to the Grateful Dead is apparently pure coincidence, as the ale was created as a private tap sticker for Casa U Betcha in Portland to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead on November 1 (All Souls Day). The design was so popular that it was adopted as the label for the potent Maibock developed a few years later, which retains the name.

Dead Guy Ale is deep honey in color, and has a markedly malty aroma, as well as a hefty content of alcohol.

    Shakespeare Stout
Shakespeare Stout is an American stout beer made by Rogue Ales of Oregon, USA. It is sweeter than an Irish stout, but not as sweet as most oatmeal or milk stouts. It pours a dark ebony color with a small head, has a modestly thick mouth feel, and a very robust flavor with notes of chocolate and coffee. It also exhibits a distinct American Hop citrusy majou, which Irish stouts do not exhibit.

    Brutal Bitter
While technically classified by most as an Extra special bitter, the many people feel the “Brutal“ is more closely aligned with a strong IPA. In any case, it is an excellent example of a highly hopped American Microbrew.
