The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation is one of the world's biggest philanthropic organizations and the fourth largest in the United States. It was greatly expanded and renamed from earlier versions of the foundation when the will of Robert Wood Johnson II was settled in 1972. He was a US Army General in World War II and son of the founder of the family business of Johnson & Johnson, who was named Robert Wood Johnson I.
