In Ontario, Regional Chairs (District Chair in Muskoka District; Warden in Oxford County) chair the council for the province's regional municipalities. As head of council, they also act as chief executive officer of the municipal corporation, as legislated by section 225 of the Ontario Municipal Act. The chair is elected in the Region of Waterloo, and is appointed by elected councillors in the other seven regional municipalities.
