    Quarter derives from the French meaning "4" or "¼" and may refer to:

      a one-fourth part of any measure, notably including:
        one-fourth of an hour
        one-fourth of a year, often a fiscal year, notably three consecutive months
        one-quarter of an ounce, term associated mostly with illicit drug sales
      "Quarters", also known as Bloody Knuckles, a schoolyard game involving quarters or other coins

    In military and combat:
      Mercy shown to a defeated opponent

    In geography:
      French Quarter, the oldest and most famous neighborhood of New Orleans, Louisiana
      Quartiere, a subdivision of certain Italian towns
