The Phoenix Recordings are a set of unreleased recordings by Kate Bush, made in 1976. They give the listener a fascinating perspective of Kate Bush's work, particularly now that we have become accustomed to the painstaking perfectionism that is an important characteristic of her modern recordings. Particularly fascinating is The Kick Inside. The slight lyrical and melodic differences between this version and the later album version, and the raw emotion of the voice, make for a spell-binding listen. One might be surprised that some of the songs, such as Surrender Into The Roses never made it onto any of Kate's albums.

There also exists an earlier set of unreleased recordings, from 1973, although the material is different.

Kate Bush has never released these recordings, but is aware that they are freely available on the Internet. So far, she has chosen not to take action against sites that do not charge for downloads.
