Palisade cells is type of mesophyll (plant tissue) and can be found inside the leaf of a green plant. They contain chloroplasts that absorb sunlight to convert the energy in photons to chemical energy through photosynthesis.

Palisade cells take a cylindrical shape in order to allow as much light to pass through and be absorbed as possible. These cells produce carbohydrates in photosynthesis faster than they use them.

They contain the most amount of chloroplasts than any other cell in the plant and the chloroplasts are usually postioned at the top of the leaf in order to catch the most amount of sunlight.
