In anatomy of animals, the paleopallium is a region within the telencephalon in the brain. It is a primitive and evolutionarily ancient region of the brain, first appearing in amphibians. In humans, the paleopallium consists of the parahippocampal gyrus and the primary and secondary olfactory cortices. see also List of regions in the human brain
