    Ottawa West—Nepean is a federal and provincial electoral district in Ontario, Canada, that has been represented in the Canadian House of Commons since 1997, and in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario since 1999. Its population in 2001 was 112,509.

    Geography
    The district includes the neighbourhoods of Shirleys Bay, Crystal Beach, Rocky Point, Bayshore, Britannia, Britannia Bay, Lincoln Heights, Whitehaven, Glabar Park, Queensway, Kenson Park, Redwood, Graham Park, Qualicum, Leslie Park, Briar Green, Centrepointe, Woodroffe, Bel-Air Park, Bel-Air Heights, Braemar Park, Copeland Park, Navaho, City View, Ryan Farm, Skyline, Fisher Heights, Parkwood Hills, Carleton Heights, Fisher Glen, Borden Farm, Crestview, Meadowlands, and the western half of Carlington in the City of Ottawa.

    The electoral district was created in 1996] from Ottawa West, Nepean and part of Lanark—Carleton ridings.

    In the 2004 federal election, Marlene Catterall defeated Conservative Party candidate Sean Casey in a very close election.

    In the 2006 federal election, Catterall stepped aside, and popular Progressive Conservative Member of Provincial Parliament, John Baird, contested and won the riding for the Conservative Party.

    This riding has elected the following members of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario("Members of Provincial Parliament", or "MPPs"):


    The riding is fairly solidly Liberal, however in the 1999 provincial election, former Member of Provincial Parliament Alex Cullen lost the nomination Rick Chiarelli following fierce party battles. Cullen moved to the NDP and split the Liberal vote, making Tory Garry Guzzo the surprise victor. In the 2003 provincial election, former Ottawa mayor Jim Watson ousted Guzzo.
