The Onsong concentration camp was an internment camp in North Korea. It housed approximately 15,000 political prisoners and was located in Onsong County in North Hamgyong. It was officially known as Concentration Camp No. 12.
In May 1987 it was reportedly the site of a massacre of 5,000 prisoners following a riot, and the camp was shut down.* Several defectors from North Korea have confirmed the story, including former camp guard An Myong-chol*. There may have been another riot in Onsong County in 1999.*
