Olivia Lufkin, often known simply as Olivia, born 1979-12-09 in Okinawa is a Japanese singer. Originally most of her works were in Japanese, but she has done more and more works in English, which has increased her popularity outside of Japan. Her father is American and her mother is Japanese, and Olivia sometimes writes about being mixed-race in songs such as "solarhalfbreed." Her sister Caroline Lufkin is also a singer (under the name Caroline).
Profile Biography Olivia attended the famous Okinawa Actors School, alma mater of popular acts like Namie Amuro. She was discovered there and signed to Avex Trax as part of the idol girl group D&D, which had a Eurobeat sound. When the group disbanded, Olivia became a solo artist. In contrast to her work with D&D, her first single in 1999 "I.L.Y.~Yokubou" had a driving rock sound. Her first two singles were written by others, but she wrote her third single "Dear Angel" and all her singles since then. In 1999 and 2000, she released six singles altogether, all with a pop-rock or alternative sound, and at the end of the year released her first album synchronicity, containing all her singles to date. In 2001 and 2002 she released two more singles. Although critically acclaimed, her solo singles were not chart toppers; her biggest hits, her second and third singles, both peaked at In 2004 she released her second album, The Lost Lolli, which was also all in English. This album peaked at After releasing The Lost Lolli, Olivia went on an unofficial hiatus(except her performance in the "Halloween of the Living Dead" hosted by Hyde the 2005-10-30), where she gained the life as model of fashion magazine, with her fans wondering whether she would ever come back. In 2006, it was announced that she would be recording the closing song for the new Nana anime under the name "Olivia inspi' Reira(Trapnest)." The show debuted on 2006-04-05. The single was released on the 28th of June, and debut into the Top 10 of the Oricon Daily charts, and her first single to do so. Olivia confesed that the hiatus was because at the time of The Lost Lollis release, she was "feeling pretty depressed", and "started to notice and realize a lot of her faults" and that her musical expression has now changed and she realized need to help for make music. After participed with Anna Tsuchiya in the Nana Special Street Live that took place in Shinjuku Station Square(Tokyo, Japan) on 2006-06-25 and did a concert in Shibuya O-West, Tokyo on 2006-07-25 called Olivia Live 2006 Tears & Rainbows where realesed a new song Recorded Butterfly, these songs will be use for the Nana anime as a Trapnest song. Then in the episode 19 from Nana broadcasted in august 16th, was realesed a new ending song called Starless Night and in the episode 22 broadcasted the september 13, was released a new opening song called Wish. Then she did some concerts called Olivia Live 2006 Chocolate & Confusion at the Club Quattro along of Japan betwen September and October; a new single under the name "Olivia inspi' Reira(Trapnest)" a participation at Pacific Media Expo 2006 in Los Angeles, California(USA) the 28th and 29th of October, where was known the new OLIVIA`s boyfriend(after she broke up with Ken Lloyd), the japanese model SHOGUN(known mainly for participation in the Lies`s PV from Kumi Koda). Besides, OLIVIA announced she will release a new mini-album, entitled The Cloudy Dreamer. The mini-album will feature a new songs of hers, as "Dream Catcher", which will be used as the TV live action Jigoku Shōjo's theme song. .
