Network General is a company specializing in network and application performance analysis. The company developed the original network packet sniffer in 1986; it merged with McAfee Associates in 1997 to form Network Associates. In the summer of 2004, Network Associates spun off the Sniffer Technologies business as Network General.The company is headquartered in San Jose, California.
