    Naghadeh (in Kurdish: Nexede, in Persian: نقده, is a city in northwestern Iran with 74,821 inhabitants *, 23 km southeast of Lake Urmia about 1,300 metres above sea level. It lies in the West Azarbaijan province.

    History
    Naghadeh is an ancient area which was the capital of some ancient Aryan civilizations speacially in Teppe Hasanlu area (a rural town 10 km northeast to Naghadeh).

    Naghadeh has several cultural and recreational attractions like "hewt kany" and "Sultan Yaghoob".

    The most important worth seeing and historical places of the city are as follows:

      Hasanloo ancient hill (Teppe Hasanlu) located 12 km. north-west to Naghadeh of which the “Golden Cup” is very famous.
      Several wetlands.

    Economy
    The region economy greatly depends on agricultural products, also cattle and sheep are raised both for meat--lamb and mutton--and for wool, so enough meat - wheat - corn - and dairy products available to feed its own people as well as for export to people in other cities.

    Region farmers also raise apples, grapes, tomatoes, potatoes, onions, peas, and other fruits. The high farm production results from the fertile soil and the use of modern machinery and scientific farming methods.

    The city's racial makeup is 25% Kurdish and 75% Azeri.
