    History of MBS
On December 27, 1950, the predecessor of MBS, was founded. On September 1, 1951, NJB started the second commercial radio broadcasting in Japan. On December 1, 1956, NJB founded with Asahi Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). Then, NJB was renamed "Mainichi Broadcasting System, Inc." on June 1, 1958. After selling all stocks of OTV to ABC, MBS started a television broadcasting independently from OTV on March 1, 1959, and made a network with Nippon Educational Television (NET, the predecessor of TV Asahi). In 1960, the broadcasting studio completed in Senri. Four years later, MBS formed a radio network with TBS and RKB, which evolved into Japan Radio Network (JRN) in 1965.

In 1970, MBS joined a television news network called All-Nippon News Network (ANN). The president of the Asahi Shimbun in those days ordered ABC to change the key station to NET, so MBS changed to a news network called Japan News Network (JNN) on March 31, 1975. On May 15, 1977, the frequency of MBS Radio changed from 1210 kHz to 1180 kHz, and at 5 o'clock a.m. on November 23, 1978, the frequency of MBS Radio changed again from 1180 kHz to 1179 kHz.

In 1990, the new headquarters and new broadcasting studio completed in Chayamachi, Kita-ku, Osaka, the headquarters moved from former Osaka Office of the Mainichi Shimbun, and the broadcasting studio moved from Senri. On March 31, 2001, the studio completed called "MBS Studio in USJ" at Universal Studios Japan. On September 1, 2006, MBS celebrated the 55th anniversary of starting broadcasting.
