MTV News is the news division of television channel MTV. It has also done two "Fight For Your Rights" campaigns-- the first, discrimination; and the second-- safer sex or protecting yourself from it. Now they also launched ThinkMTV, a social campaign about multiple issues on education, discrimination, sexual health, environment, and global issues to teens and college-aged people. ThinkMTV now appears to be defunct as the site now redirects to the same content as MTV.com. Criticism MTV News, just like MTV, has faced a fair amount of criticism. Some have criticised MTV News for its liberal slant and slow response to report on Hurricane Katrina. Correspondent Sway Calloway has been spoofed on Doggy Fizzle Televizzle by Snoop Dogg. While it has won numerous awards for its journalism, including Peabody and Emmy awards, some contend that MTV News is not a true news source given its focus on music. | |||||||
