In Greek mythology, Lycon was a son of King Hippocoon of Sparta. His father had taken the throne from his brother, Tyndareus. Heracles overthrew Hippocoon and killed Lycon, reinstating Tyndareus.

In Greek history, Lycon was the name of one of the three prosecutors in the trial of Socrates. Meletus and Anytus were the other two men responsible for Socrates's prosecution. All three are mentioned in Plato's dialogue, the Apology.

In geography, Lycon was the Latin name of the city of Lycopolis in Upper Egypt, now Asyut, Egypt.
