This page lists songs which are notable covers of well known songs. Only songs that appear on an artists main album or a "greatest hits" or "best of" album should be listed. That means don't list live versions unless it appears on an officially released live album. Also included are albums consisting totally of covers.

Songs are listed alphabetically by song title, with the covering artists listed alphabetically afterwards. Treat band names such as "Dave Matthews Band" and "Jimi Hendrix Experience" as band names and not people names. That extra word at the end of the name makes a difference.

Songs with more than one name are listed in each name group.

    Notes

      Order
Songs are grouped by song title.
If the song is covered by more than one artist, the song should be listed once with each artist who covered it listed alphabetically
The original artist should be listed immediately after the song title, in parenthesis ()'s
Parenthesis ()'s at the beginning of a song title are ignored for sorting purposes, but should be written in the song title

Most old-school sorting rules apply, with one exception:
Case is ignored. ("van Halen" is the same as "Van Halen".)
Spaces always precede numbers and letters. ("Is This" precedes "Isn't It".)
Ignore punctuation. ("What's That" comes between "Whatever" and "Whattup".)
Numbers are treated as if they were spelled out. ("42" comes before "7".)
For different songs with the same titles, repeat these guidelines to sort by artist name.

      Wikipedia links
Artist links are recommended (since most artist pages exist already).
For artist links, check the Wikipedia entry first, since some need to be disambiguated. (For instance, Nirvana should be entered as "Nirvana".)
Song titles links are not recommended except when a song article already exists or is being created immediately. (The link can always be added later.)
Song links should refer to Wikipedia song entries, not pages about the person named in the song.
For linked songs that contain bolded names, use Wiki markup as follows:
