Kirby: Squeak Squad (aka Kirby: Mouse Attack in Europe and '星のカービィ 参上! ドロッチェ団' Kirby of the Stars: Calling On! Dorocche Gang in Japan) is a Nintendo DS game announced at Nintendo's E3 2006 press conference on May 9, 2006. Unlike its predecessor, Kirby: Canvas Curse, Squeak Squad will be more of a traditional platformer, using the D-pad versus the touch screen to control the game's protagonist, Kirby. The game is developed by Flagship.1
Story It's another peaceful day in Dream Land and Kirby is enjoying a picnic with a strawberry cake. Suddenly, something very quickly snatches the cake, and Kirby, seeing that his cake is gone, thinks for a moment. Suddenly, he realizes that his eternal rival, King Dedede, has stolen his cake, and rushes off to punish him once more and get his cake back. Along the way, he finds some treasures, and also meets up with the mysterious and infamous thief gang, known as the Squeak Squad (or Squeaks. In the Japanese version, they are known as the "Dorocche Dan"), who turn out to be after those treasures. After Kirby makes it to Dedede's castle and defeats Dedede, the Squeak Squad takes them by surprise and steals the treasure from Dedede, which they consider as the treasure that "grants you the ultimate power". The Squeaks run off with the treasure, but Kirby gives chase, determined to stop them from using this treasure for their evil plans. It's up to Kirby to defeat the whole Squeak Squad no matter what it takes, beat them to the treasures they're after, punish their leader, Dorocche, and make sure that the ultimate power that is said to be contained within the treasure chest they have stolen does not fall into the wrong hands. Gameplay As in most of his games, Kirby will be able to copy the abilities of certain enemies by inhaling and swallowing them. New to the series are interactive environments, which obstacles passable with copy abilities (examples: freezing water to get across with the Ice ability, or cutting down tall tufts of grass with his Sword ability). Kirby will also be able to collect and store copy abilities and items in his stomach, which is represented on the touch screen. The player can also create a roulette, by dragging one copy ability over another with the stylus. The roulette stops on a random power, including some special powers only accessible through the roulette. Known returning copy abilities include Beam, Bomb, Cupid (Angel), Cutter, Fighter, Fire, Hammer, High-Jump, Ice, Laser, Magic, Mini, Ninja, Parasol, Sleep, Spark, Sword, Throw, Tornado, U.F.O., and Wheel . Known new abilities are Animal, Bubble, Metal, and Ghost. The game will feature multi-card multiplayer and single-card download play. Videos have revealed that some copy abilities will feature multiple attacks, similar to Kirby Super Star and Kirby and the Amazing Mirror. New media has shown the brand new concept of Copy Scrolls, which power up any power that Kirby has when chosen. Examples include Hammer gaining a firey aura, Tornado taking the elemental properities of the terrain it is over, and Spark can create thunder clouds and make electrical currents run through metal. Levels To access these next few levels, you will need to get five different colored stars found in some treasure chests hidden somewhere in the six levels listed above. The final boss is Dark Zero. You fight him after beating Dark Dorocche, and Kirby uses the Tristar ability to fight him. | |||||||||
