iVillage is "the Internet for women" and consists of several online and offline media-based properties, including iVillage.com, iVillage UK gURL.com, and Gardenweb.com that seek to enrich the lives of women, teenage girls and parents through the offering of unique content, community applications, tools and interactive features. iVillage Inc. was established in 1995 and is headquartered in New York City. iVillage.com has extensive message boards covering topics such as pregnancy and parenting, women's health and well-being, and diet and fitness. iVillage.com is broken down into seven channels: Beauty and Style, Health and Well-Being, Diet and Fitness, Love and Sex, Pregnancy and Parenting, and Home and Food. iVillage also has several blogs, on topics such as parenting, dating, love and sex. Blogs include: The Baby Name Wizard, Chick Chat, Sex on my Desk, Meredith Vieira Today, Daily Blabber, Crib Notes, Funny Mom, Grrl Genius,This Fish, and Sanity and the Solo Mom. iVillage was acquired by NBC for 600 million dollars in March of 2006. The NBC stations group will be producing a live show called iVillage Live from the Univeral Orlando theme park.
