The ISC licence is a free software licence that is functionally equivalent to the BSD licence, with language deemed "unnecessary" removed. It was created by the Internet Systems Consortium (ISC) as a licence for their own software releases. Subsequently, it has been used by some other open source software projects. Notably, the OpenBSD project uses a licence derived from the ISC licence as their preferred licence for new code contributions.
