HOK Sport + Venue + Event, a division of Hellmuth, Obata and Kassabaum, is an architectural practice specializing in the design of public assembly spaces and planning of major special events.
After recognizing a potential market for architects specializing in the design of sports facilities, HOK founded HOK Sport in 1983. In 1996, HOK Sport, recognizing the small niche of sport design, expanded its practice to include convention facilities. By merger with a similar company, LOBB Architects with offices in London, England and Brisbane, Australia, and a home office in Kansas City, Missouri (considered by many to be the home of sport architecture) HOK Sport created a global sports design firm. In 2002, HOK Sport merged with Anderson Consulting Team, which specialized in public event planning. Today, HOK S+V+E is recognized worldwide as the industry leader who's portfolio includes innovative solutions to the design of sports venues, convention facilities and the planning of major public events such as the Olympics, the NBA All-Star Game, the FIFA World Cup and the Super Bowl.
The firm traces its roots to many of its architects coming from Kivett & Myers which designed the Truman Sports Complex in Kansas City in 1967.
