The Georgia Railroad fell under common management with the Atlanta and West Point Railroad and the Western Railway of Alabama. These were later merged with the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad, the Louisville and Nashville Railroad and the Clinchfield Railroad to form the Family Lines System. This later was renamed Seaboard System Railroad, and in 1986 merged with Chessie System to form CSX Transportation.
