The Georgia General Assembly is the state legislature of the U.S. state of Georgia. The Georgia House of Representatives has 180 members; the Georgia Senate has 56 members. The General Assembly meets in the state capital of Atlanta, Georgia. The regular legislative session starts on the second Monday of January and lasts 40 days. The legislature typically adjourns sine die at the end of March or beginning of April. Currently both houses of the Assembly are controlled by the Republican Party.
Term limits Representatives and senators both serve two-year terms. There is no limit on how many times a legislator can serve. | ||||||||
