A highlight in the field of archaeology Dr. Günter Dreyer was one of the many archaeologists at the German Archaeological Institute. As an archaeologist Dreyer has discovered signs of an ancient form of writing in the tomb of King Scorpion I. He found clay tablets that have been dated back to before 3200 BC.

Only part of the writing has been deciphered. The lettering and style of writing shows that the language existed before the Pharonic Dynasty. Because of this it is still not sure who, between the Egyptians and the Sumerians, created writing.
