Firepower is a measure of the ability of weapons, specifically weapons which involve fire or explosion, to inflict harm, damage, or kill. A greater firepower indicates a greater ability for such.
When referring to a single weapon, the destructive energy per fire of the weapon and rate of fire must both be considered. For instance, a rifle has a greater fire power than a BB gun. However, a fast-firing weapon may have more firepower than a much slower weapon even if it has greater destructive energy.

When referring to the firepower of a military unit such as a battalion, the number of weapons must also be considered.

A general formula for firepower may be represented as destruction/time.
