    Filipino is a terminology that originally referred to the Spanish population who were born and settled in the Philippines. * During the nationalist movements of the late 19th century and after the revolt and independence from Spain in 1898, it came to refer to the general population of the country, either native or Mestizo.

    Filipino, or Pilipino, can also refer to:
        Synonym: Philippine is also used as a qualifier in certain instances.
      The Filipino people, the people of the Philippines or are of Filipino ancestry.
        "Filipina" can also be used denote female Filipinos.
      "Filipinos", in the plural, may be a reference to cookies that are manufactured by Artiach and Nabisco in Spain.
