Journey's seventh album, Escape, was released in August of 1981. Escape was the band's first album with new keyboardist Jonathan Cain whom had replaced founding keyboardist Gregg Rolie who had left the band at the end of 1980. The album was co-produced by Kevin Elson and one-time Queen engineer Mike Stone (whom also engineered the album. With three hit singles, Escape became Journey's biggest album yet, and remains one of their most popular and best-reviewed works-to-date. The spelling of Escape as E5C4P3 on the cover art is similar to, but would seem to predate, l33t spelling. Certified 9x Platinum by RIAA An Atari 2600 game was made based on the album.
