Biology Endogenous substances are those that originate from within an organism, tissue or cell *. In biological systems endogeneity refers to the recipient of DNA (usually in prokaryotes). However, due to homeostasis, discerning between internal and external influences is often difficult. Economics In an economic model, an endogenous change is one that comes from inside the model and is explained by the model itself. In linear regression, any variable that appears on the left hand side is said to be endogenous.
