There have been a number of different computer games called Empire. Several of them have some connection to various different games named Conquest or some derivative thereof.
Empire games include:
A complicated turn-based military-economic game based on a game called Civilization which was written in 1972. One game typically takes several months to play. This family has descendents which are also called Empire. See Empire Classic (computer game).
An economics game written for PLATO computers in the very early 1970s. It was renamed conquest and the name Empire was reused for a space-war game.
A space-war action game with a Star Trek theme written for PLATO computers in 1972 with several descendents, none of which are named Empire, but one of which is named conquest. See PLATO Empire (computer game).
