The Droid Tri-Fighter is a space superiority fighter from the fictional Star Wars Universe.

It was designed by the Colicoid Creation Nest (the same race that created the Droideka) and employed by the Confederacy of Independent Systems (or CIS) during the Clone Wars. The droid's ridged, three armed design was based on the skull features of a fearsome predator native to the planet Colla IV.

Dogfighters by design, the tri-fighters are a staple starfighter in Separatist space fleets. Their reflexes are so fast, that it is said that they can dodge at the speed of light. Each is armed with four blaster cannons and three separate thrusters. Because of its highly efficient power plant and long-range communication systems, the Tri-fighter has a highly effective range. It does not come equipped with a hyperdrive.

The droid was capable of deploying buzz droids via discord missiles and quickly became rival to the ARC-170 starfighter and the V-wing starfighter. It was armed with one medium laser cannon; a light laser cannon for each of the three "arms" and two to six missiles (variable payloads).

    Trivia
In the Star Wars: Clone Wars animated series, a sleeker variant of tri-fighters appear, armed only with a central cannon. These fighters swarmed the skies of Coruscant during the battle leading up to the third film.
In Star Wars: Starfighter, similar craft, known as Daggers and piloted by mercenaries hired by the Trade Federation, are encountered often, usually in the company of "Morningstar" and "Dianoga" fighters.
In Star Wars Battlefront II, the Droid Tri-Fighter is played as a normal vehicle- that is, a battle droid can enter and pilot one. In Star Wars canon, the Tri-Fighter is controlled by a built-in artificial intelligence, and can carry no passengers.
