Derby North is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election.
Boundaries Derby North constituency covers the northern part of the city of Derby. It was a Labour seat for nearly fifty years until the Conservatives gained it in their landslide victory in 1983.They held it for fourteen years until Labour regained the seat in their landslide year in 1997.The seat does contain Labour wards but also the best Tory areas in Derby such as Allestree and Darley Abbey.
