Real Club Deportivo de La Coruña, S.A.D. (popular Galician name, Deportivo da Coruña, abbreviated Depor) is a Spanish football club. The club was founded in 1906. Its home stadium in A Coruña (Galicia) is called Estadio Municipal de Riazor and holds around 35,000 spectators. Recent history In the 1993-1994 season, a penalty missed by Miroslav Đukić during the last minute of injury time in the final game of the season cost the club what would have been its first Spanish title. Deportivo had been the leader for almost the whole season, but the resulting draw meant that FC Barcelona instead won the championship. Deportivo have a range of skillful and talented players, such as Juan Carlos Valerón and Jorge Andrade. The club has won the Spanish League once (2000), the Copa del Rey twice (1995, 2002), and the Supercopa de España three times (1995, 2000, 2002). In the 2004 UEFA Champions League, Depor knocked out the previous year's runners-up Juventus. Then, in the quarterfinals, it continued its surge by defeating defending champions AC Milan in improbable fashion, erasing a 4-1 deficit in the opening leg in Milan with a stunning 4-0 win in A Coruña. This is the largest comeback ever in a knockout Champions League tie. However, Depor lost to eventual champions FC Porto of Portugal in the semifinals, on a 0-1 aggregate score. The 2004/2005 season saw them play out some of their most inconsistent form in many seasons, and indifferent performances saw long-serving coach Javier Irureta parting ways with the club - despite having many fruitful seasons, including the Liga title back in 2000.
