The Department of Transport (An Roinn Iompair) is the Irish government Department that is responsible for transport policy and overseeing transport services and infrastructure in Ireland. The Department is led by the Minister for Transport who is assisted by one Minister of State.
Departmental Team The official headquarters and Ministerial offices of the Department of Transport are in Transport House, Kildare Street, Dublin 2. The Departmental team consists of the following: History The Department of Transport was created in 1959 with Erskine Hamilton Childers becoming the first Minister.
