    Plot

The SG-1 team arrives on a primitive planet with basic Christian beliefs. They fear a demon living in the woods and appease it with human offerings. The "demon" is actually an Unas Go'auld in the service of Sokar, posing as Satan to these Christian believers. The Canon is the one to choose those to be given to the Unas and blatanty abuses the position. He wears a "magical" ring, that seems to be of Goa'uld technology, that allows him to summon lightning to strike others.

Teal'c is subjected to witchcraft tests on the basis of his forehead mark ("a mark of the devil") and appears to drown in the last of these tests. Due to his symbiote and entering meditation, Teal'c is able to "return to life", which is deemed to be a sign of Satanic influence. SG-1 is sentenced to be offered to the demon along with a young girl deemed to be "possessed", when in reality, she only has chicken pox.

SG-1 manages to escape from the Unas and after receiving their weapons from a sympathetic villager they are able to stop the Unas, but not before the Goa'uld takes the Canon as a host. Carter discovers that the Canon has been possesed by the Goa'uld and both host and Goa'uld are killed. SG-1 then encourages the villagers to bury their gate and they return to Earth.
