The Colombo Plan began in 1951, and is a regional organisation focused on social development. It is based in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
It provides economic aid to parts of South and Southeast Asia.

It was established May 1950 after a meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Nations in Colombo, Sri Lanka (then Ceylon), coming into full operation July 1951.
