Carrier has several very different meanings:
in Science (physics, electronics, biology, mathematics, chemistry and other sciences)
Carrier wave, a waveform suitable for modulation by an information-bearing signal
Charge carrier, in physics a free (mobile, unbound) particle carrying an electric charge
Carrier-protein, a protein that facilitates the transport of another molecule
Asymptomatic carrier, a person who is infected with an infectious disease or carries the abnormal gene of a recessive genetic disorder, but displays no symptoms
