He has been a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives since 2001, representing the 29th District of California (map) and is a member of the House Judiciary Committee. The district includes Burbank, Glendale, and Pasadena.
Early life He was born in Framingham, Massachusetts. He attended Stanford University and Harvard University. He was a lawyer and a member of the California State Senate before entering the House. Personal Schiff resides in Burbank, California with his wife Eve and two children, Alexa and Elijah. Legislative record During his tenure in the California State Senate, Schiff authored Senate Bill 1847, Chapter 1021. Signed into law in 1998, this created the Pasedena Blue Line Authority, which continued work on the stalled Gold Line. Congress Schiff was elected in 2000, defeating Republican incumbent Jim Rogan, citing Rogan's staunch support of the 710 Freeway extension and the impeachment of Bill Clinton.
